How to Buy Your First Memecoin on Solana

Using Jupiter, Birdeye, and Sniper Basics

Now that your wallet is set up and loaded with SOL, it’s time to buy your first memecoin. There are three main ways people do this on Solana:

1. Manual buying via aggregator (Jupiter)

2. Tracking new coins via Birdeye

3. Sniping early tokens with bots

Let’s go through the easiest first.

🪐 Method 1: Buying via Jupiter Aggregator

Jupiter is the main DEX aggregator on Solana — it finds the best price across different DEXs (like Raydium, Orca, Meteora, etc.)

Steps:

1. Visit https://jup.ag

2. Connect your Phantom wallet

3. Paste the token address of the memecoin you want to buy (you get this from Twitter, Birdeye, or Telegram)

4. Choose how much SOL to swap

5. Click “Swap” and approve the transaction in Phantom

✅ Tip: Always double-check the token address. Copying from the wrong tweet = instant loss.

👁 Method 2: Using Birdeye to Find New Memecoins

Birdeye is like a radar for Solana tokens. Use it to:

• Spot new tokens as they launch

• See price movements in real-time

• Get token info (liquidity, volume, holders)

Steps:

1. Go to https://birdeye.so

2. Click “New Pairs” to see fresh launches

3. Look for:

   • Liquidity over 500 SOL = usually safer

   • Volume spikes = attention from buyers

   • Telegram link or dev wallet = helpful for checking trust

Example Red Flag: Token launched 10 min ago, 10k volume, but 90% of tokens held by one wallet. Avoid.

🤖 Method 3: Sniping Tokens Early (Optional for Degens)

Sniping is when you buy a token instantly at launch, often before it's listed on Birdeye.

This requires:

• A bot (like BONKbot, BananaBot, or custom code)

• Speed, gas, and risk tolerance

• Sometimes being in private Telegram groups or alpha chats

Warning: Most rugs happen early. You need to understand liquidity locking, honeypots, and contract functions before sniping. We'll cover that in a later chapter.

🔎 How to Get a Token Address (a.k.a. “What to Paste into Jupiter”)

You’ll find token addresses from:

• Twitter/X drops (check quote tweets & comments)

• Telegram sniper chats

• Birdeye (copy the mint address)

• Launchpads or stealth-drop announcements

Example:

Paste that into Jupiter, and it will recognize the token.

🚩 Before You Buy: 3-Point Rug Check

1. Liquidity locked? Use DexScreener or SolSniffer

2. Buy/sell taxes? More than 10%? Probably trash.

3. Can you sell? Use RugCheck.xyz to simulate a sell.
